Q: Who do we support?
A: Social Blade aims to be as transparent and supportive of the entire YouTube community as possible. In that regard we think both PewDiePie and T-Series have accomplished a lot. We aren't for either, but do think that the numbers are in T-Series' favor at winning this battle in the end, at least as of the writing of this FAQ. PewDiePie wasn't the first #1, and T-Series won't be the last.
Q: Bots!!
A: Over the years YouTube has gotten REALLY good at detecting bots. It is HIGHLY unlikely any large youtube channel is botting. YouTube detects, removes, and shuts down channels for botting often.
Q: But you said when YouTube was down T-Series was getting subscribers!!
A: They were the most noticeable and easiest to give an example of a phenomena that was happening to everyone. We later RT'd someone who showed how it was done. Basically via the mobile app you could still subscribe even though everything else was down.
Q: Sub Gap???
A: Sub Gap is an indicator of which direction things are going. If you see the number above (and the graph to the right) going up it means PewDiePie's lead is increasing (and the stream will go on longer). If the number is staying the same and the graph is leveled out it means they are increasing at the same rate. If the number is decreasing and the graph to the right is going down it means T-Series is making progress to take over the title of #1 most subscribed channel (with videos).
Q: How does the average table work?
A: Each entry in the table represents a "subs per minute" value, the only difference is how many data points are used to calculate it. For example the first col, the "1 minute average" col, we simply check how many subscribers the channel had a minute earlier and subtract it from the current number. For the other columns though we use more data points. For the one hour one for example we look how many subscribers the channel had an hour ago and subtract it from the current number. This gives us how many they got in the past hour but we then take that number and divide by 60 to get the averages subs per minute across the entire hour. So long story short, each data point represents how many subs per minute the channel is getting, just as you start looking at a longer period the number is slower to change, but also a bit more accurate.
